I Read My 500th Children’s Book of 2026 On My Birthday!

Today, September 20th, 2026 I read my 500th children’s picture book of the year. I’ve read children’s picture books here and their as an adult, but have gotten more into them over the course of the last couple of years. At the start of the year I was going to challenge myself to read 365 children’s picture books this year—1 for every day this year. I have exceeded at that am pleased to have finished my 500th children’s picture book on my Birthday of all days. My Birthday is always a special day to me. Some Birthdays have been better than others. This Birthday has been a challenging one, but I am strong enough to get through challenging times with the help of books. Reading children’s books is very comforting and nostalgic. It’s nice to read stories and see colorful illustrations all through the eyes of a child. You are never too old to read children’s picture books. I think more adults should read them on topics that interest them. Some children’s books are fictional and some are non-fictional which makes it more accessible for everyone’s taste. Listing all the 500 books would be a lot, so listed below I have some of my favorite children’s books listed by category. Theirs approximately three months left of the year and I don’t plan on stopping reading children’s books any time soon.
